Can anyone give me some advice.?
I haven't worked in nursing for approx 12 months as have been nursing my terminally ill hubby. Since he passed I have been a disability assessor for the government which has kept me on the register.
I am going back to university in September and want some part time work but no one will even look at me and I don't qualify for NHS professionals... I've been nursing in Australia not outer Mongolia...
I don't understand. You don't FoRGET how to be a nurse...
Any suggestions?

Hi Nursegirl34,

Your question is a little muddled - undoubtedly because of your frustration with the position you find yourself in. You have mentioned Australia so I am guessing you have just come back from Australia? Were you working for the Australian government as an assessor and is your current registration with AHPRA (Australian nursing board) rather than the NMC in the UK? If you could take a step back and re-describe your position more clearly it may be easier to provide helpful advice.

As a fallback position working in an HCA capacity whilst you re-establish your credentials may be something to consider (clearly not what you want to hear).

It would also help to understand what experience you have had as a qualified nurse including any specialities and the countries that you practiced.

Nigel

I didnt work as a nurse for around 12 months a few years back....just kept paying my fees and walked back into a job. Not the best job but a starting point. Maybe find a private company for a few months just to rebuild the references....but most of all be honest in the interviews and I think there will be employers out there willing to take you on!
