In order to save money the NHS is deskilling the wards by lowering the threshold for management and 'senior' posts.

A few years back F grade used to be the grade of a Senior Staff Nurse. You couldn't become a sister without approriate experience and management courses.

In order to save money they appont Junior Sisters to give the appearance that here were more senior nurses on the wards. In effect all they have done is deskilled the ward base and increased the risk of patients being situations where no one has the eperience to spot when and what action needs to be taken.

Now all you need is a degree and a little ward experience (although I'm sure you won't need that soon!)

Phew.... wanted to get that off my chest for a while!Shocked
