Hi all!

Im a registered psychiatric nurse from Ireland and I'm wondering if anyone knows if I would be eligible to study a midwifery course in the U.K. or would I require a general nursing qualification first? Also any info on the length of and commencement of  midwifery courses, fees etc. would be great.

Hi Ellie,

You can find a complete list of midwifery courses available through UCAS here

Midwifery has always had a direct entry process in the UK so that you can train as a Midwife without being trained as a Nurse first. It may be that your qualification allows you to have the choice of courses that also include a requirement to have done Nurse training first and may be shorter courses as a result.
